Lighting Up the Cathedral

This summer Galway Cathedral underwent a lighting facelift, investing in new a LED lighting system to illuminate the building from all angles. The cost of this project is €10,000 and Galway Cathedral is hoping that the venture can be crowd-funded.

The Sanctuary Choir of Immanuel Presbyterian Choir, from McLean, Virginia, USA, gives a concert in the Cathedral on Saturday 3 September 2016 at 7:00pm. Admission is free, and a collection will be taken in aid of Galway Hospice.

The mother of St Augustine, she prayed for many years - ultimately successfully - that he convert to Christianity. She is remembered on 27 August.
Saint of the Month: St Mary Magdalene

Companion of Jesus, and apostle to the apostles. She is remembered on 22 July each year.
Selwyn College Choir, Cambride

The choir of Selwyn College, Cambridge, visits the Cathedral on Tuesday 12 July 2016, when it sings at the 6:00pm mass and gives a short recital afterwards.
Concert: Waterbury Chorale

The Waterbury Chorale, from Connecticut in the USA, gives a concert in the Cathedral on Friday 1 July 2016 at 8:00pm. The choir is directed by Joseph Jacovino Jr, and accompanied on the organ by Jenny Li.
Admission is free, and all are welcome.
Summer Concerts 2016

The 2016 series of summer concerts takes place in the Cathedral from 7 July until 11 August, on Thursdays at 8:00pm. Highlights of this year's series include a performance by Audivi Chamber Choir of Herbert Howells' Requiem on 21 July.
Concert: Esker Festival Orchestra

The Esker Festival Orchstra, conducted by Peter Joyce, gives a concert in the Cathedral on Thursday 30 June at 8:00pm. The programme includes Mozart's flute concerto in G, Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade, and a specially-commissioned work, Elus, by young Irish composer Luke Duffy.
