St Columba, born in Gartan, Co. Donegal, in the sixth century, and founder of a monastic settlement on the island of Iona, off the west coast of Scotland; credited with the revitalisation of monasticism in Scotland.
Concert: Dagilėlis' Boys Choir

The Dagilėlis Boys' Choir, from Lithuania, gives a concert in the Cathedral on Sunday 26 June 2016 at 19:00. The programme includes music by Bach, Handel, Fauré, Victoria, Elgar and others.
Admission is free, and the concert will last about an hour.

A copy of the original icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help visits Galway Cathedral on Tuesday 19 April 2016, as part of a nationwide pilgrimage marking the 150th anniversary of the presentation of the icon to the Redemptorist order by Pope Pius IX in 1865.
Concert: Stabat Mater (Pergolesi)

Maynooth University String Ensemble, directed by Sébastian Petiet, is joined by sopranos Erin Dollard and Nicola Lahert for a performance of Pergolesi's wonderful Stabat Mater Dolorosa. The concert takes place in the Cathedral at 20:00 on Saturday 16 April 2016.

Mass in the Cathedral for St Patrick's Day is celebrated on Wednesday 16 March at 18:00, and on Thursday 17 March at 09:00, 11:00 (Gaeilge) and 18:00.

Choral Concert: West Liberty University Singers

West Liberty University Singers, from West Virginia in the USA, give a concert in the Cathedral on Sunday 6 March 2016 at 20:00, where they are joined by the NUI Galway staff & student choirs and a small orchestra of wind, harp, strings & organ. The programme includes a performance of Requiem for the Living by Dan Forrest and extracts from Bernstein's Chichester Psalms.
Admission is free; a collection will be taken in aid of breast cancer research.
