A charity concert, in aid of Lauralynn Children's Hospice, will be given by Aimee Banks in the Cathedral on Saturday 1 October 2016 at 8:00pm.

Tickets cost €10, and are available in the Cathedral Bookshop, in OMG Zhivago (Shop Street, Galway), and in Supervalu Moycullen.

Lighting Up the Cathedral

This summer Galway Cathedral underwent a lighting facelift, investing in new a LED lighting system to illuminate the building from all angles. The cost of this project is €10,000 and Galway Cathedral is hoping that the venture can be crowd-funded.

Saint of the Month: St Michael the Archangel

Very little is known about the archangel Michael. He appears in the book of Daniel in Chapters 10 and 12, where he is seen as the protector of Israel. In the Book of Revelations there is one reference to him in Chapter 12,v 7 where Michael and his angels fight against Satan and defeat him. In the Epistle of Jude (v7) reference is made to Michael fighting against Satan and disputing the body of Moses with him. His name means "Who is like God" in Greek.
