We are delighted to announce that the Cathedral Choir is returning to sing once more at the 10:30am mass from Sunday 7 November.

On 2 November each year we remember all those "who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection" (eucharistic prayer II).

All Saints Day is a solemnity in the church year, and in Ireland is a holyday of obligation.

The Mass of Chrism takes place in the Cathedral on Thursday 21 October 2021 at 7:00pm.

Celebrated by Bishop Brendan Kelly and all the priests of the diocese, the centrepiece of this annual occasion is the blessing of the three holy oils for sacramental use during the year: the Oil of the Sick, the Oil of catechumens, and Chrism.

Traditionally, this mass is celebrated on the morning of Holy Thursday; this year, however, because of Covid-19 it was postponed until October.

Divine Mercy Sunday will be marked in Galway Cathedral on Sunday 11 April, with devotions at 2:00pm and mass at 3:00pm.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the Easter ceremonies will once more be celebrated behind closed doors, and may be seen on our webcam.
