Concert: Luminosa String Orchestra

Luminosa Orchestra, Galway's new professional orchestra, gives its inaugural concert in the Cathedral on Monday 15 April 2019 at 8:00pm.

The orchestra plays a programme of music by women composers: Fanny Mendelssohn, Joan Trimble, Jane O'Leary, Marian Ingoldsby, Elizabeth Maconchy and Hildegard of Bingen; the evening also includes poems read by Grace Kiely.

Tickets are €20 at the door.

Casady School Orchestra & Choir

The orchestra, band and choir of Casady School, from Oklahoma in the USA, give a concert in the Cathedral on Friday 15 March 2019 at 8:00pm. Admission is free.

Casady School is an Episcopal day-school in Oklahoma City. The school's Performing Arts Department explores and develops students' curiosities and aspirations in band, orchestra, choir and theatre, and performs frequently both on- and off-campus. Students in all ensembles achieve at high levels and perform regularly at contests and festivals.

Summer Concerts 2018

The 25th annual series of summer concerts in Galway Cathedral takes place between 5 July and 9 August, on Thursday evenings at 8:00pm.

This year's landmark series includes a screening of a silent movie with live organ accompaniment, a conversation between plainchant, uillean pipes and organ, and the glorious combination of brass and organ, as well as the usual organ recitals by renowned international players.
