St Bede the Venerable, priest, scholar and historian, is remembered on 25 May.

There are may images used to describe Jesus. The Apocalypse depicts him as "a lamb standing as though it had been slaughtered" (Apoc. 5:6).

The last chapter of St John’s gospel would appear to be an addition, since chapter 20 seems to have been the original ending.

In today’s readings we have two revelations of the risen Lord. Today and for the next few Sundays, the second reading comes from the Book of the Apocalypse.

Someone wrote recently about his fear of death and his certainty that all that would happen to him would that he would be buried in a hole in the ground, where he would remain.

At Sunday’s liturgy, we read of two processions. The first is Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem; the second is his journey to the cross.  

The story of the woman taken in adultery is a clear illustration of what divided the Scribes and Pharisees and Jesus. Many of the former were probably good people.
