The position of Organ Scholar at Galway Cathedral, which has been vacant for the last two years, has been filled by Robbie Carroll.
Robbie comes from Bearna, and is a transition-year student at Coláiste Iognáid in Galway city. He has a keen interest in music generally and the organ in particular, and we are delighted to welcome him to the music ministry in the Cathedral.
The organ scholarship is a sort of apprenticeship: the successful candidate receives training in organ-playing, choral direction and liturgy, while playing an active role in the music ministry. See the organ scholar page for more information.
