Galway Cathedral Recitals is one of Ireland's premier summer concert series. Running over six Thursdays in July and August each year, it attracts performers from all over Europe as well as Asia and the USA. An evening of sublime music in the inspiring surroundings of Galway's stone Cathedral is an experience not to be missed.

This series, the nineteenth presented in Galway Cathedral, begins and ends with choral concerts. The Choir of St Catharine's College, Cambridge, launches the series on 5 July with, in their own words, "a programme of English choral music from Taverner to Tavener", while Galway Cathedral Choir, directed by Raymond O'Donnell and joined by Organ Scholar Robbie Carroll, brings it to a close on 9 August with a concert of Haydn, Buxtehude and others.

Another highlight of the series is the concert on 12 July, given by mezzo-soprano Edel O'Brien and organist John O'Keeffe. Their programme includes Gorecki's monumental O Domina Nostra, as well as music by Messiaen and Charpentier.

Solo organ recitals this year are given by John Kitchen from Edinburgh on 19 July, John Cantrell from the USA on 26 July, and young Korean organist Joonho Park (winner of the 2011 Dublin Organ Competition) on 2 August.

As always, the big screen will allow you to watch the action in detail! - and after each concert you will have a chance to meet the performers over a glass of wine.

Admission to each concert is €12.00 (concession €8.00); a Friend's Ticket is also available, which gives admission to all six concerts at a discount.
