Solemn Vespers (evening prayer) for the feast of St Nicholas will be celebrated in Galway Cathedral on Friday 5 December, the vigil of the feast, at 7:00pm.

St Nicholas is the patron of Galway city, and co-patron of the Cathedral. He is also patron of sailors, children, pawnbrokers and Russia. He was bishop of Myra, in modern-day Turkey, in the fourth century. The feast of St Nicholas (6 December) is a solemnity in Galway city.

All are welcome to join the Cathedral community in singing solemn vespers for the feast in the Cathedral.
