Christmas 2023

Carol Service

The Cathedral Carol Service takes place on Tuesday 19 December 2023 at 7:30pm. Bishop Michael Duignan will preside, and the singing of carols is led by the Cathedral Choir.

The Solemn Feast of Christmas

Christmas Night Mass on Sunday 24 December at 6:00pm and 10:00pm (Cathedral Choir). The 10:00pm mass is celebrated by Bishop Duignan; the Cathedral Choir sings carols from about 9:40pm.

Christmas Day Mass on Monday 25 December at 9:00am (Gaeilge), 10:30am (Cathedral Choir) and 12:30pm. There is no evening mass.

Confession

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is available as follows:

  • Monday 18 December - Friday 22 December, 5:00pm - 5:50pm
  • Saturday 23 December, 11:30am - 1:00pm & 2:00pm - 5:00pm

After Christmas

Tuesday 26 December - Friday 29 December: Mass at 11:00am only. Our normal mass schedule resumes on Saturday 30 December.

Monday 1 January: Peace Mass at 11:00am, celebrated by Bishop Duignan.

Devotions

Eucharistic adoration will not take place between Sunday 24 December and Friday 29 December inclusive; it resumes on Sunday 31 December.

The Taizé Holy Hour does not take place on Monday 25 December or Monday 1 January; it resumes the following Monday, 8 January.

The Youth 2000 gathering resumes in January 2024, on a date to be decided.

Other

The Cathedral Office closes on Friday 22 December and reopens on Wednesday 3 January.

The Cathedral Bookshop closes on Sunday 24 December at lunchtime, and reopens at 9:30am on Wednesday 3 January.
