Norwegian choir Tordenskjold Songlag visits the Cathedral on Saturday 16 April 2016, and will sing at the 11:00am mass. The choir is directed by Elin Persson.
Tordenskjold Songlag was founded October 1908, and it is one of the oldest choir in the region. The choir is a mixed choir with 25 members, and the repertoire is wide: church-music, folk-music, popular music, songs form shows, and of course music for seasonal occasions.
Tordenskjold Songlag is one of the most active choirs its region, but the choir has also performed in various countries, such as Sweden, Estonia, France and Poland. This is its first journey to Ireland.
Elin Persson has been conductor of Tordeskjold Songlag since 2008, but she also conducted the choir between 1990 and 2000. Elin is an active conductor, and her main position is as chorus-master at the Opera in Kristiansund (the oldest opera-company in Norway), a position she has held since 2001.
